Qualified Counsellor Diploma
My name is Jo Thomas and I have a diploma in counselling, I have been working in the counselling field since 1998, I am also a tutor teaching counselling at a college and adult education centers around Gwent.

Why counselling?
Seeing a counsellor does not mean you are unable to cope. It does not mean you lack friends and someone to talk to. A therapist will not tell you what to do - only provide the kind of listening to help you to reflect and think for yourself, so you can make the best choices possible.
Many people engage with counselling to sort out something that is troubling them - and very often they feel they do not want to burden family and friends with the talking or reflecting that may be necessary to understand their feelings in the first place. Others want to talk to an objective observer, someone uninvolved in the situation who will not feel threatened by difficult feelings.
Counselling allows the person to explore ideas and development heading towards his/her ultimate potential. Challenges may now need to be unravelled counselling presents opportunities for becoming self-aware and for growth towards being autonomous, person one chooses to be.

Additional Information
Tutor for counselling at local college and adult learning centres, I am an experienced counsellor (11yrs+) dealing with all aspects of personal and emotional difficulties. I also work in private practice; I have a background as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor.
